Summer on Cape Cod is here, and we don’t plan to waste a second of it!
Many love Cape Cod for its year-round livability, but summer is really where most consider it at its prime. Between spending days at the beach, exploring nature, and indulging in coastal cuisine, there’s a perfect piece of Cape Cod for everyone.
Below are some annual and exciting events you might want to plan your schedule around.
Sporting Events
Cape Cod Baseball League Opening Day
Baseball season on the Cape kicks off on Saturday, June 13th!
With so many distinct neighborhoods, baseball season is a big deal on Cape Cod. Friendly competition between 10 towns brings together spectators and fans from Brewster, Bourne, Chatham, Cotuit, Harwich, Falmouth, Orleans, Hyannis, Yarmouth, and Wareham.
It’s one of the nation's premier collegiate summer leagues, with many players moving on to play in the major leagues!
Farmers’ Markets
Summer is all about BBQs, frozen treats, and plenty of fresh produce. Cape Cod offers a variety of local Farmers’ Markets that far outshine anything you can get from the grocery store – any day of the week! Check out some of these markets this summer around the Cape:

Arts Alive Festival
June 12th -June 14th is the Arts Alive Festival at Falmouth Library! Located on the library lawn, this annual festival celebrates the performing, visual, and literary arts!
Cape Cod Quahog Day
Saturday June 20th is the 18th annual Cape Cod Quahog day in Falmouth! Quahogs are a species of edible hard-shell clams native to the Atlantic coast, and a New England summer delicacy.
While some may know Phil the groundhog, Cape Cod locals know Doug the quahog. On each summer’s eve, Doug comes out of his shell to predict the number of Cape Cod beach days for the season. Join in on the fun at Shipwrecked starting at 1pm! There will be sponsors, vendors, and great views overlooking Falmouth Heights Beach.
Father’s Day Car Show
Sunday, June 21st is not only the first official day of summer, it’s also Father’s Day!
Spend the day with dad at the Main Street Car Show in Hyannis where you’ll catch over 350 antique, classic, muscle, and custom cars. From 8:30am-2pm, there will be music, food, shopping, and plenty of family-fun activities.
Community Events
Wildflower Garden Walk
Every Wednesday at 10am, join Green Briar Nature Center’s manager for a tour of the grounds in East Sandwich. Tickets are $12 ($10 for members) to see over 300 plants in the award-winning Shirley G. Cross Wildflower Garden!
Mashpee Community Picnic
Saturday June 27th is the annual Mashpee Community Picnic at the Mashpee Middle-High School Athletic Field. There will be entertainment, music, and kid-friendly activities, followed by the highly-anticipated fireworks show! Festivities begin at 5pm, with the fireworks show beginning at dusk.
Rain date is Sunday, June 28th!
Hounds of Highfield
Sunday, June 28th is the 5th annual Hounds of Highfield at Highfield Hall & Gardens! This event is free (for the public and for furry friends), with a pet costume parade, agility course, and local food vendors. This is a great opportunity to connect with fellow dog enthusiasts and local animal organizations in the community.
Join in on the fun from 11:00am-2:00pm!
